Disinformation Project

Fighting for Truth

CDR works with civil society organizations to collect, analyze, and report on disinformation.

TWe worked with 45 civil society organizations to create a crowdsourced data set, making information that was previously locked up in the silos of individual organizations available to trusted investigators and researchers. The resulting knowledge has helped civil society fight disinformation by providing a vast, contextualized view of activity in their communities, enabling early intervention and response.

Disinformation data analysis was complicated and not easily done at scale.

Inaccessible Data

Inaccessible Data

Disinformation datasets were inaccessible.

Our Solution

Disinformation Tools and Processes

CDR customized, deployed, and supported our Waterbear platform to allow for easy, contextualized reporting of disinformation.

Making Data Easy to Analyze

Large amounts of data were tagged, made easy to work with, and made available for pattern detection.

Crowdsourcing Disinformation Data

Waterbear enables disparate coalitions of frontline partners to easily collect, and aggregate disinformation.

Making Data Accessible

We ensured disinformation data could be easily accessed by those who can best put it to use.

The Outcomes
